Mazo Capital Solutions truly values each and every partner relationship that we have established and is proud to be able to contribute to America’s growing business community.
In this month's partner spotlight blog post, we will get to know D&D Lift LLC - a family-owned and operated business that is recognized for carrying some of the most reputable brands that include JLG, Gradall, Genie, SkyTrak, and SkyJack. Be sure to check them out at https://www.ddlift.com/
We heard from Craig Watson, the Sales & Marketing Manager at D&D Lift to learn more about their history and what sets them apart. Can you tell us a bit about the history of D&D Lift?
Founded in 1981, D&D Lift started as a Telehandler repair company out of a home garage. As time moved forward so did D&D Lift and we are now a full-service factory authorized dealer with multiple locations who offer construction equipment rentals, sales, and service in Northern California on a variety of machines.
Can you tell us some of the things that D&D Lift has done to differentiate themselves over the years?
Over the years D&D Lift has stayed humble and developed a niche that is not seen often. We are a one stop shop holistic approach to our customer's needs. We can rent, sell, and fix equipment whereas other businesses might only specialize in one thing, for example, a rental yard is usually just a rental yard.
What are some of the other major markets that you guys serve outside of northern CA?
Outside of California D&D Lift caters to equipment owners and other businesses who need machines, parts, or technical advice. D&D Lift is JLG’s western regional partner with in-stock new machine inventory which cuts down wait times for customers who need equipment asap or for those last-minute purchases. We also have a sizeable parts department with over one million dollars of inventory that we can ship anywhere.
Obviously the Covid-19 pandemic was a major economic shock, can you tell us about what D&D Lift focused on during those uncertain times?
During the Covid-19 pandemic D&D Lift focused on the health & safety of our employees, families, customers and ultimately the survival of our company. D&D Lift established a safety coordinator position during this time which greatly increased our ability to monitor CDC and California guidelines, in addition, our employees now have a dedicated resource they can depend on to get on the spot information and training on best practices.
What current trends do you see in the construction industry as the economy is opening back up and we approach the heart of summer?
The summer months have historically been “the busy season” for rentals; however, this year and with the pandemic delaying or postponing projects everyone seems to be playing catch up. In the present moment supply chain issues, cost increases and reported shortages, the industry basically turned one corner only to see another. Ironically, we have not seen a slow down since supply chain issues were reported, instead we have seen an increase in the need for our equipment and services. We are all hands-on deck.
In this ever-changing industry what do you see for the future of D&D Lift?
As with any business, one ingredient in the success recipe is that D&D Lift will adapt and evolve with our customers’ needs. We have and will continue to expand our brick-and-mortar locations as well as our online presence. In sales we would be open to establishing mutually beneficial purchasing agreements with customers who purchase equipment annually. In many cases the thoughts of the future are based on our hindsight of the past, it is humbling that demand has allowed us to grow beyond where we started back in 1981 with material handlers. In today's market we now offer small dirt equipment, portable power & water solutions, small tools, aerial lifts etc…With our heads down we work hard to be legendary in the minds of our customers, employees, vendor partners and communities we serve. We look forward to looking back to this spotlight and seeing how much further we have gone.
