MAZO Capital Solutions is proud to announce our second Certified Lease & Finance Professional (CLFP), Peter Nguyen! Peter has over 20 years of experience in the financial service industry and prior to becoming a part of the founding team at MAZO he has held various leadership positions within other organizations.
In this blog post, we will hear from Peter Nguyen, CLFP on what drove him to become a Certified Lease & Finance Professional, as well as his preparation for this certification.
Without further ado let’s hear from Peter!
I have spent my entire professional career in the Equipment Finance industry and becoming a CLFP is something I have been wanting to do for a while now. For me, the CLFP designation is about providing the best possible experience for my clients and being the best small business advocate I can be.
The trust my clients' place in me is something I do not take for granted so becoming a CLFP is a way to let them know that their trust is not misplaced. Perhaps it’s because my parents were small business owners themselves, but helping small businesses is something I am extremely passionate about. Their ambition, energy, and willingness to take risks really motivates me to be on top of my game. Their business is how they pay their mortgage and put food on the table. It is how they put their kids through college. I truly believe it is my responsibility to serve my clients at the highest standards our industry provides and I am proud to work with a team that shares that sentiment. We have another CLFP at MAZO with several others in the process of preparing for the exam.
Even after 21 years in the industry, there was still so much I did not know. Preparing for the certification comprised of hitting the books for a few hours each night after a full day of work. Weekends were no exception. Meanwhile, my wife was shuttling the kids to school and sports. If I ever slacked, she was sure to let me know. After the bookwork was complete, I attended the Academy of Lease and Finance Professionals (ALFP) and went through the 2-day course. The instructors were knowledgeable and going through the Academy was extremely helpful in my preparation for the CLFP exam. I highly encourage anyone considering getting their CLFP designation to strongly consider attending the Academy of Lease and Finance Professionals.
Our industry continues to grow and evolve and being part of that has been something I have really enjoyed. Now that I am a CLFP I look forward to continuing to be an ambassador for the industry and finding ways to give back to an industry that has given me so much.
